TOP 9 Events for a Good Cause in 2014
1.ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE
This is an activity which involves dumping of bucket of ice water over participants’ head to create awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Within 24 hours of being challenged, the participant has to record a continuous video footage where they have to announce about the acceptance of their challenge and also nominate a minimum of three people for the challenge.
If a person wins the challenge then he/she is expected to donate 10$ for the research on ALS disease or if lost then he/she is expected to donate 100$ for the same.
2.NO SHAVE NOVEMBER
It is a unique way to create awareness among people regarding cancer. This involves embracing our hair which cancer patients lose and donating the money which is generally spent on shaving and grooming our hair to educate people about cancer prevention and to save lives of the people.
3.SWACHH BHARAT
The idea was created and launched by Dr.narendra modi(prime minister of india)who himself wielded broom and cleaned the road. The main motto of this campaign is to achieve ‘clean india’ by 2 october 2019(Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday.)This campaign involves performing the activity and nominating nine more people for this campaign and they take up the challenge and each nominate nine more people, thereby spreading the mission.
4.BAND AID 30
It is a new beginning to a charity group named Band-aid. It is started on request of United Nations so as to create awareness regarding Ebola prevention among people in Africa and all over the world too. Previously the group covered the track “do they know it’s Christmas?” in order to raise fund towards Ebola crisis. This year, the group again redefined the lyrics to reflect present Ebola’s crisis.
5.KISS OF LOVE
This is a non-violence protest against Moral policing. The protestors conducted various events like ‘hug of love’, ‘kiss of love’ which symbolically tells that there’s nothing wrong in doing so and indirectly warned the police to not arrest or harrase the people whom they find so. This movement started in kerala and spread across many parts of the country.
6.RICE BUCKET CHALLENGE
It is a response to ice bucket challenge to highlight water scarcity and poverty in India and parts of south Asia. This activity involves of donating a bowl of rice to the poor and needy and taking a picture of it, posting it on social networking sites and nominating friends to perform the task. This helps in reduction of poverty.
7.EBOLA AWARENESS
World Health Organisation decided to conduct an Ebola awareness campaign. The campaign focuses on raising awareness , and seeks to educate people on methods of transmission, signs and symptoms, preventative measures, and how to deal with suspected cases.
8.MOVEMENT OF SPIRITUAL INNER AWARENESS(MSIA)
This organization creates awareness regarding their own soul
as a living reality. It basically provides numerous tools and techniques to the
people to experience their souls and thereby their own divinity. The main aim is
to incorporate “practical spirituality” in the minds of people.
9.MEMU SAITHAM
It is an event for hud-hud victim relief fund. A big gathering was arranged on 30th November 2014 where most of the film actors turned up and show casted their talents involving skits, dances. The actors mainly organized the event to raise funds and spread awareness among the people.
The event was a grand success which incurred of a about 11 crore rupees.
