7 Innovative Ideas in Harry Potter series

Harry Potter was the greatest phenomena that appeared in this millennium. It has shown us the greatest world of wizards. Every magical object and concepts of magic in the series created by JK Rowling are products of her vision. Here are 6 most innovative ideas in Harry Potter:

11.    Quidditch: Since the first Harry Potter tale, this game left me amazed. A wizarding game played on broomsticks, that is quiet similar to football played by Muggles. I felt this game was too passionate and if introduced in schools, it would gain more popularity with star players like Lionel Potter and Christiana Malfoy.
Each goal is worth ten points and catching the Snitch is worth 150 points, that would end the game. Some games can go on for many days if the Snitch is not caught (the record being three months) then the game ends on an agreement reached by the captains of both teams.
JK Rowling wrote five pages of words starting with Q before deciding on ‘Quidditch’. Her efforts didn’t go in vain, because this game is a biggest asset to the series.

22.   Horcruxes: Keeping a part of your soul safe in an object. What a cruel idea! Horcruxes are dark magical objects that hold a piece of a soul. Our Tom Riddle, i.e. You-Know-Who, Lord Voldemort split his soul into seven pieces because he thought number seven have magical properties.
#1: Tom Riddle’s Diary – First Horcrux to be destroyed by Harry in Chamber of Secrets. Ginny Weasley found the diary and he used her to create a body of his own. Obviously, Harry Potter didn’t let it happen.
#2: The Gaunt Ring - The ring belonged to Tom Riddle’s mother. Dumbledore is seen wearing the the ring and he himself destroyed it.
#3: Slytherin’s Locket – It was hidden in a cave which Tom Riddle used to visit when he was a child. It was destroyed by Ron Weasley.
#4: Helga Huffelpuff’s Cup - Tom Riddle steals the goblet from an old lady and he made it his horcrux. It was destroyed by Hermione Granger with the Basilisk fang.
#5:Ravenclaw’s Diadem - It was hidden in the room of requirement at Hogwarts which was acquired by Tom Riddleafter murdering an Albanian peasant. It was destroyed by Vincent Crabbe by a Fiendfyre curse.
#6: Nagini - It was Voldemort’s snake beheaded by Neville Longbottom with the sword of Godric Gryffindor. It was the last Horcrux destroyed in Harry Potter series that marked the death of the dark Lord.
#7: Harry Potter – Harry was the only person who lived even after the Killing Curse (Avarda Kadavra). When Voldemort almost killed the baby, unintentionally a part of his soul goes into Potter which made his one of his Horcrux. So, for Voldemort to die, Harry must die. He lets Voldemort kill him, thus destroying Voldemort’s soul on him.

33.   Pensieve: The pensieve serves the function of storing memories by freeing the mind when it gets overloaded. We can retrieve memories from a third person perspective. Dumbledore uses the pensieve to store and organize his memories. Severus Snape uses the pensieve to store the memories which he wants to keep away from Potter. It is a shallow stone basin containing magical runes in which memories are stored in the form of magical threads.

44.   Magical Potraits:  The photographs and portraits in the wizard world are not stationary. The people in the portraits move within the frame and from one frame to another. They are also able to talk is they are developed in a certain potion. There are various portraits of Headmasters and Headmistresses in Dumbledore’s office with whom he seem to be in discussion from time to time. A Fat Lady portrait is used to guard the Gryffindor common room and opens only if she is given a password.

55.   Deathly Hallows: These are three powerful magical objects which are supposed to be created by Death itself and given to the Peverell brothers .The person who possesses all the three articrafts become the Master Of Death.
Elder Wand, which was considered undefeatable and possessed by Dumbledore from the beginning till Voldemort gets his hands on it after killing Snape. Resurrection Stone, a stone which could summon the spirit of death and was hidden inside the Snitch. The Cloak of Invisibility ,which renders the user complete invisibility and my personal favourite.

66.   Platform 9 ¾ : It is the platform in King’s Cross Station from which the Hogwarts Express may be boarded on September 1st.  In order to get onto Platform 9 ¾ , they must walk straight through the solid barrier dividing platforms nine and ten. JK Rowling chose King’s Cross station because it was the place where her parents met on a train to Scotland.

77.   Maurauder’s Map: It is a magical map that reveals all the classrooms, hallways, every corner and secret passages of Hogwarts. It is not fooled by animagi, polyjuice potion, or invisibility cloak. It accurately identifies the location of every person by a dot. I think every office could benefit from Maurauder’s map. Just think how you can identify the arrival of your boss at work & teacher to the class, so that you can act as the sincerest person .
